Zoe Catherine Kendall at Kabiri

Central Saint Martins graduate Zoë Catherine Kendall presents her distinctive and outlandish jewellery collections ‘Precious Creatures’ and ‘Rough Cut’ at Kabiri.

Her surreal and gothic fine silver creations are designed for both men and women. They deliberately surprise with their use of coloured glass eyes that peer out with dark humour and curiosity from the intricately textured, oxidised and enamelled forms they are set within.

Precious Creatures is inspired by living, moving and intriguing mini creatures whilst Rough Cut is all about flaunting deliciously raw and unadulterated gems such as sapphire, emerald and ruby. Zoë’s work deliberately challenges accepted ideas of what jewellery should be, thus creating new concepts of desirability for the wearer.

Zoe works mainly in fine silver which will not tarnish, and most of the pieces are thick hollow casts, filled with wax, allowing for a tactile lightness in weight, making them much more comfortable to wear. Take care when handling Zoe's pieces as they are more fragile than a solid piece and could get crushed under extreme weight or pressure.

Some of the pieces in these lovingly hand-crafted collections are one-offs; others can be commissioned in specific sizes.
