After 40 years in the jewellery industry, 'Amrapali of Jaipur' have decided to launch their own range at Kabiri 'Rajiv Arora'. Named after a famous courtesan who lived at the of Lord Buddha who was though to be the epitome of beauty, culture and art, 'Amrapali' is synonymous with the finest in India.
Amrapali have been worn by a variety of celebrities such as Halle Berry, Brittany Murphy, Jennifer Lopez etc etc. Their jewellery is the perfect accompaniment to the modern red carpet. Mixing the need for jewellery where the stones are ethically sourced as well as being exquisitely beautiful.
Using traditional Indian techniques Amrapali combines the eastern style with a modern take. Reclaiming traditional Indian symbolism, such as paisley and fleur-de-lyes, Amrapali also looks to art movements which include Art Deco for their inspiration. many of the items are one-off designs due to the hand crafted nature and availability of the stones.
In this era of blood diamonds the customer has the assurance that all the stones are ethically sourced. Either being cut by Indian crafts people thereby supporting the idigenous jewellery trade or sourced from old pieces of antique jewellery. The diamonds used are predominantly sourced from the Golconda mines of India. These stones have been reused from older jewellery due to these mines now being inactive. The cuts are all traditional rose and single cut diamonds which are traditional in this style of Mughal jewellery. The subtle light and simplicity of these diamonds give the ornate ethnic look of Amrapali jewellery which a modern brilliant cut diamond could never bring. |
