Johanne Mills

Johanne Mills is a London based jewellery designer and stylist. After gaining an MA in Mixed Media Textiles from the Royal College of Art, Johanne launched her own range of accessories in 2005. The designer gathers materials, pushing them beyond conventional characteristics. Working with both contemporary and traditional techniques such as passementerie, knot work, marquetry and straw weaving, she enjoys putting iconoclastic things together.

In her new collection Johanne Mills takes inspiration from 1950’s rock 'n' roll irreverence and 1980’s decadence. Plenty of sparkle and richness are created with the use of aurora borealis Swarovski, swathes of gold chain and glinting oversized crystals. Large earrings, weighty necklaces and pendants are created from cut coloured vinyl 7” records and albums. Materials are combined to celebrate the optimism of youth while creating a collection of statement makers with the designer’s usual style and wit.
