Canadian designer Arielle de Pinto, noted for her modern approach to traditional craft, delivers uninhibited hand crocheted jewellery that is both raw and voluptuous. Transforming silver and vermeil chain into complex pattern and weaves, de Pinto creates tactile pieces that are simple to wear, exuding luster and spontaneity.

Her treatment of metal as fibre demands a constant physical struggle yet yields visually delicate and supple pieces. Through precision and form are essential, Arielle adopts a consciously unrefined approach in finishing each piece, always exposing a few chain 'threads'. Now twenty-two years old, Arielle launched her first line while attending Concordia University's fine arts program. Drawing upon an array of disciplines, she approaches jewellery as visceral expression as exemplified bby her installations of crocheted facemasks that explore the beautiful and the grotesque.
